On April 1 and 2, the Barrington Hills Riding Center featured a horsemanship training clinic conducted by Barb Gerbitz. Riding Club of Barrington Hills members filled the center and went through a number of exercises that layered knowledge on leading, backing, rolling hind quarters, front end moves, and driving the horse. Gerbitz has traveled to many barns during the past 11 years teaching horse owners how to improve their horsemanship skills using gentle and respectful methods. “My goal as a teacher is to provide practical and effective methods to support the development of the horse and student through all of their stages of learning. Horsemanship clinics provide a supportive environment for the horse and student to learn new skills and develop positive and respectful relationships,” Gerbitz says.
